What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Lying in a grassy field, with puppies climbing all over me – I did it once with 10 Shar Pei puppies.

 

What is your greatest fear?

Sleeping in a room with one mosquito - That, and being homeless.

 

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Norma Rae and Dr. Kervorkian

 

Which living person do you most admire?

Ann Coulter – JUST KIDDING!   Too many to name but here’s a start: The Dalai Lama, Jimmy Carter and anyone who feeds the hungry.

 

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Being pathologically  “thin skinned”.

 

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Arrogance and body odor.

 

What is your greatest extravagance?

Eating out.  Lobster at The Palm.

 

What is your favorite journey?

The journey inside my soul; and Esalen in Big Sur, California.

 

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

Piety.

 

Which living person do you most despise?

Person?  How about ISSIS, David Duke and The Westboro Baptist Church.

 

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Just the word, "JUST.” Just that.

 

What is your greatest regret?

Not saying hello to Doris Day when she stood next to me at a jewelry counter (humming a song no less) – And rejecting a nice guy named John in college – He gave me a hardcover copy of Stranger In a Strange Land.  I was a jerk.

 

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

I can’t reveal that…he was famous. RIP...

 

When and where were you happiest?

When my first editor wrote me and liked my book.

 

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My hair.  I would like to look glamorous emerging from a swimming pool. Like a Chanel commercial.

 

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Rescuing a puppy from drowning in Santa Fe (seriously); directing a play; writing a book.

 

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?    

Amy Poehler, Meryl Streep, OR a gardenia bush.

 

What is your most treasured possession?

An old copy of To Kill a Mockingbird; and my 14-lb orange Manx feline, named Redsun. 

 

What is your favorite occupation?

Human Being – It’s a full-time job; you can’t get fired, and it requires an enormous skill set.

 

What is your most marked characteristic?

Intuition and humor.

 

Who are your heroes in real life?

 Navy seals, and the Red Cross.

 

What are your favorite names?

Charlie, Walter, Ruby, Margaret, Vivien.

 

What is it that you most dislike?

Cruelty in any form; and filmmakers who arbitrarily kill animals in movies for effect.  The effect it has on me is that I WALK OUT.  

 

Who are the nicest celebrities you've ever met?

Walter Mathau, Jack Lemmon, Madeline Kahn, George Clooney, Robin Williams, Larry Hagman,

Steven Tyler

 

How would you like to die?

In my sleep, wearing a red negligee, following a great meal.

 

What question do you dislike the most? 

How are you?   There’s no good answer, except this:  “I am in a constant state of existential angst.”   THAT’S the answer.  

 

What is your motto?
